The Guernsey Raiders Ladies are hoping that the weather will be on their side this Sunday as they face East Grinstead.
The ladies will face 3rd on the table East Grinstead away on Sunday. They sit in third place on the table, after 3 wins and 1 loss to Seaford Scarlets. They’ve had wins against Crawley and Uckfield, who the Guernsey Raiders Ladies will face in the next few weeks.
The ladies fixture against Seaford was postponed due to weather, and has been rescheduled for April 2025. Head coach Steve Evans: ‘The weather has been a challenge, meaning at times we’ve been unable to train on the pitch. But we’ve been able to work around that with video sessions and indoor training sessions’.
‘We’re really looking forward to being able to get back out there. The ladies are excited to play East Grinstead. It's a team we haven’t yet played before, and we’re looking forward to whatever challenges they have to bring us.’
‘Across the last few weeks since we played Dorking, we’ve had the opportunity to work on some of our set pieces, and look at some different attacking moves that we’re ready to put into practice.’
‘We’ve had the real benefit of a pretty consistent squad so far this season, which has meant we’ve been able to work on specific points, and numbers have been high at training. It was a shame we couldn’t train on Tuesday, as we were due to have 32 players down, which would have been an opportunity for us to have a full run out. But we were able to put a strong session in on Thursday and get the ladies back on the pitch’
The squad sees little changes from previous fixtures. Elle Murphy moves from the backs to the forwards, and has worked alongside her sister Kristi Murphy to learn the role of Flanker. A number of well known faces for the Ladies will look to bring their experience to the young squad. Daisy Travers and Jillian Smith will be looking to lead the squad, with Janelly Casas Zárate looking to make an impact.
Kick off is 2pm on Sunday at East Grinstead RFC. Good luck Ladies!
