There’s no rest for the ladies after the festive season, as they take on Uckfield in their first game of the year, looking to continue their unbeaten streak so far this season.

A squad of 21 has been selected to travel, but the ladies had almost 30 available to play.

Head coach, Steve Evans: “I’ve said how amazing the numbers are at training throughout this season, but we had over 30 players at training on Thursday, with 2 new players having come down midway through the season, which just shows how the squad is growing.”

The pack sees little change, with Christine Miller bringing her experience to the side. Academy pathway player, Poppy Inder, starts in the front row at hooker. We also see Beth Le Gallez return to the squad on the wing, after returning to the island late last year.

After an unfortunate injury for Ieva Tulie, Liv Keanneally moves in to play 10, with Ella Gidney moving to 15.

“We’re really looking forward to getting back out there, we have clear goals and things to improve on. We’re really lucky to also have a very strong bench, so we have the opportunity to make the most of that and continually have fresh legs coming on the pitch” Steve added.

Uckfield currently sit in 5th of the league, with Worthing and Crawley beneath them. Guernsey sit in 2nd, with East Grinstead and Dorking separating the two teams.

“It’s not going to be an easy game, we are prepared for that, no game ever is. The ladies need to go out there and focus on what we have worked on in training. We’ve had a few weeks off, with a break in games over the Christmas period, so we need to go out there and work hard.”
