REYNOLDS TAKES TOUGHER APPROACH
Redruth are in town on Saturday night and it promises to be a another testing 80 minutes for the Raiders as they still search for the first win at National Two South level.
The home team welcome back Jason Batiste into the centres and Luke Sayer comes out of retirement onto the wing.
'Their huge experience is just what is needed at present ' said head coach Jordan Reynolds who is hoping for a better defensive effort from the team this week.
The early season soft under belly was all too prevalent at Bury St Edmunds where they leaked a dozen tries and, in Reynolds estimation, defended well for a mere six minutes.
He does not like that and has made it clear to his players this week.
‘I trained them hard on Tuesday and I’m not pulling punches anymore,’ he said it midweek.
‘We are trying to put more pressure on the individuals because we know we have got potential and there are some great weapons there.’
As for Redruth, Reynolds expects his pack to have their toughest test yet on Saturday evening.
‘They look like a side like ours. They have a big forward pack and like to utilise the driving maul.
‘That said, Taunton Titans pushed them around a bit.
‘The play very direct through their forward pack.
‘They have been at National 2 level for as long as I can remember and always seem to finish in the top four or five so they will be a big test.’
But, like Raiders, Redruth took a tanking last weekend in round three.
They shipped 60 odd points at Worthing Raiders who were pushed hard by our boys the previous weekend.
Reynolds is not reading too much into that result as they had previously beaten Taunton Titans and our coach had not expected them to lose all season.
Against Worthing the Garenne Stand was packed to the rafters and Reynolds is hoping for similar levels of support, or even greater, in the 6pm Saturday kick off.
‘We have had evening games in the past and from a spectator point of view we hope to get good support again.’
It remains early days and plenty of time to turn things around.
